The chessboard splits in half, allowing you to stack and store it on a bookshelf to make a beautiful display.

Magnetic
The pieces and the board are fitted with medium-strength magnets to allow the board to be moved around easily during the middle of a game. It also creates a unique tactile feeling that brings a real connection as you move your pieces.

Certificate
Each set is individual, and uniquely yours, this is reflected as I make them, and each set will be individually numbered on the board and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Crowns
A feature of my chess set is the addition of crowns. The four crowns provided are to help make those special moments where you get a chance to promote a pawn feel even more special. The simply slip over the pawns to mark them out as promoted pieces.
Display Box (Premium only)
This premium set comes in a custom A3 presentation box. This carefully crafted set comes with a unique set of dividers shaped and contoured specifically for each piece, and lined in velvet to present the pieces neatly and create a sense of occasion when unpacking.
After Care
Each piece is made with care, polished and painted by the artist, so for the original purchaser an aftercare service is available if repairs are ever needed. A small fee may apply to ensure the service is used appropriately.
Atelier Ukinan
I am a Japanese 3D Artist based in the UK, with over 20 years of professional experience in the video game industry as an Artist. The Unique Chess Set is one of my personal projects using a 3D printer to bring my creations into the real world.
I like playing chess, but not every day. A large chessboard takes up too much space if left out, and it's a hassle to put it away and take it out every time. I wished there was a chess set that could be stored on a bookshelf nicely and also be fun to play with family and friends. So I created this set.
This was originally designed for my nieces — something fun that, even when not being played with, could be looked at and make them smile. I wanted to give it a special feel, so I hand painted the pieces I designed, and finished them with a high-gloss varnish. The whole process involves, 2 layers of primer, 3 layers of acrylic colour, and 3 layers of varnish to create the look I wanted.
I'm not aim to mass production, so I will only make a few sets per month.
